Bio
For over 20 years, violinist and pedagogue Peter Dreux has enjoyed a demanding and diverse performance career. His keen interest in both classical masterpieces and contemporary works has taken him to prestigious stages across the United States. As a freelance artist based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, his performances range from frequent orchestral work with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra at the George Mason Center for the Arts, to accompanying kundiman music for the Philippine Embassy. Whether he is providing ambience at an outdoor event in Dupont Circle or interpreting solo Bach for a palatial wedding in Cairo, Peter brings technical nuance and dynamic artistry to the violin.
Peter honed his craft at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music with Jorja Fleezanis and Mimi Zweig, receiving chamber music coachings from Grigory Kalinovsky and the Pacifica Quartet. A recipient of the Nu Kappa Epsilon Scholarship from the Department of Music at William & Mary, he continued studies with Susan Via. Much of his musical influence stems from the tutelage of Ricardo Cyncynates, Assistant Concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra, and Linda Schroeder, a former first violinist with the NSO. He has participated in renowned summer music festivals, including the Meadowmount School of Music, Interlochen Arts Academy, and the Indiana University Summer Strings Academy.
A passionate and dedicated teacher, Peter maintains a vibrant studio of over 20 students of all ages, inspiring the next generation of musicians.
